The Accusonus ERA Bundle consists of 7 audio plugins; ERA-D, A Noise Remover, Reverb Remover, De-Esser, Plosive Remover, Voice Leveller, and a De-Clipper.
These plugins work on both Mac OS & Windows with support for a wide variety of DAWs and NLEs such as; Davinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Audition, Audacity, and many more.
I have been using the Accusonus ERA Plugins on all of my videos and films since the start of this year and they have become a valuable part of my audio post-production workflow.
The ERA-D plugin works slightly differently to the rest, but we will come back to that later.
Each of these plugins is very simple to use. You simply drag it onto your audio clip, track of sub mix to apply the effect.
Once applied you are greeted with a clean and very minimal interface, each consisting of an on/off switch, a dial and a few other buttons that vary from plugin to plugin.
Something I love about these plugins is that they are very plug and play. Once you have added the plugin, you typically do not have to do much, with the occasional tweaking on the dial to control the intensity.
The noise remover does a great job of isolating dialogue from the background noise, giving you a much cleaner audio track
The reverb remover is great when there is not a huge amount of echo, but if there is a lot of echo on the clip, you may be best manually removing it. I have a tutorial on this which you can find here.
The De-Esser makes it super easy to smooth out any harsh esses in your dialogue, giving it a more natural sound.
Likewise, the Plosive Remover makes it super easy to get rid of those popping sounds that come with P’s & B’s in dialogue.
The Voice leveller is something I use all of the time, and is by far my favourite plugin in bundle. As people talk the volume at which they speak can fluctuate, and this plugin does an outstanding job of levelling it out. This saves me so much time in post.
Finally, the De-Clipper does a great job of repairing clipped audio. Something like this is never going to be perfect, as the audio data has been lost when it was recorded, but it does increase your chances of bad audio being usable.
Finally, ERA-D is part of their pro bundle, and offers more finite control over De-Noising and De-Reverberation.
While this plugin can look a lot more scary and complicated than the others, it does maintain an ease of use that plugins of this level have lacked.
Having both in the same plugin, enables them to work together, resulting in a more natural noise and reverb.
Also, if you use two mics on set, you can use them both in conjunction to improve the audio repair quality.
Accusonus has put together some truly amazing plugins that have become a daily part of my post-production workflow.
It has been a breath of fresh air these last few months when it has come to sound design, making it easier than ever to balance out and improve my audio.
